Sour Note

This design was fun, yet simple, and basically illustrates my commentary on the necessary evils of having to set an alarm to get up to go just about anywhere.  It sucks, not because I have to leave the house, but because it interrupts the natural sleep pattern abruptly instead of allowing us to wake up naturally when our body is ready.  The modernization of society is both a boon and a blessing I suppose.  Initially the music note was twisted and warped, but it just wasn't 'reading' right, so I decided to go back and swap it for a more recognizable standard image.  Humorously enough though I did find it interesting that while the image of an alarm clock is still an iconic and recognizable one, yet little to no one actually uses them anymore since the wide use of smart phones. The illustration was available as a print at Wondercon 2016 in Los Angeles, and was made in February 2016. It is entirely digital, made in Illustrator, Painter, and Photoshop.
