Children of the Candy Corn

This illustration is another favorite of mine, more so for the sake of the joke than the actual imagery, but I am glad I was able to pull off my 'vision' of this one successfully.  This image is basically a riff on the 'Children of the Corn', and classic (short) story by Stephen King, and a full blown series of horror movies made on it's premise.  The premise is, that the children are all live in the mid-west somewhere (where cars tend to break down near corn fields, so beware), where they live in an agricultural-quasi Amish existence devoid of any parental figures (or more importantly, anyone over the age of 18 I believe).  In this society, they worship some kind of 'God', only referred to as 'He Who Walks Behind the Rows', that lives within the surrounding corn-fields.  Any visitor, or member of the clan over the age of 17, are systematically sacrificed to this diety. WHEW!!!  Okay, so with this illustration I took the basic characteristics of the typical 'children', and applied them to candy corn.  This design was a little more challenging than the rest since it required a background for full effect, and I couldn't just rely upon the candy corn to deliver the pun.  The image was created in March 2016, and was sold as a print at Wondercon 2016 in Los Angeles.  It is entirely digital, made in Illustrator, Painter, and Photoshop.
